Wow!! Gorgeous antique mulberry wash bowl and pitcher. Made by Thomas Goodfellow of Tunstall, Staffordshire, circa 1828-1859. The pattern name is Alleghany. Both pieces are 12 sided. The bowl is 13 3/4 inches diameter. The pitcher stands 11 1/4 inches tall. Condition: Pitcher - the glaze at the base of the handle seems to be pulled away from the body a bit. The handle feels very secure, I don't think it is a defect. It can be seen in the photos. Bowl - the bowl is cracked and chip. The crack starts at a chip at the rim, and goes almost to the center of the bowl. There is another hairline that starts at the rim and goes a couple of inches .. I can only see that one from the back. There is a quarter sized stain in the scene in the bottom of the bowl, to the left of the urn. |
